What's Important To You? What do you need to do today to work towards the things that are important to you?

If you follow along on Facebook or Twitter, you already know that I went to see my precious sister, Charity, and her family over the weekend. Though you can’t tell from this picture, she’s pregnant and due in December! On my visit, I had the privilege of helping her do a bit of prep in Luke’s nursery.

As I was working away, I couldn’t help but pray for my new little nephew and his family. I also thought about the rest of my family and how important they are to me. (Of course I thought about my dad and how excited he would be to have another grandson on the way.)

Setting Priorities

A few years ago when I shared my monthly goals with you, one of the items each month was to have family night at our house. My nephews and niece are growing up fast and before you know it they’ll have flown the coop and will be raising families of their own. I want them to know how important they are to me. I want to love on them. I want them to know that I’m here for them. And if I don’t spend time with them, how will they know that?

The only things missing from our monthly family nights were the kids that live out of state. Sure they come visit, but I’ve decided to make it more of a priority to go see them too. It is my goal to take a yearly trip to see Annissa in Missouri and to head to Georgia 1-2 times a year to see Charity (it’s only a 3 hour drive).

If spending time with my family is important to me then I need to make an effort to go to them! If I don’t make changes, how will things ever change?

What’s important to you?

Only you know what’s important to you. Maybe you want to get out of debt, run a 5k, or a million other things. What do you need to do today to work towards the things that are important to you?

If you want to get out of debt, maybe you need to get on a budget or curb your spending. If you want to run a 5k, maybe you need to start running and little by little work your way up to that race you’ve been dreaming of.

Little by little, start working towards the things that are important to you, and eventually you’ll be where you want to be. But if you never move, you’ll always stay exactly where you’re at and those things that are important will just be dreams.

So I’ll ask again, what’s important to you?
