Unlocking the Power of the Golden Key

The golden key is a symbol of your ability to unlock any door on your path to happiness. Will you choose misery or joy?

I’m a sucker for a good movie. I’ll often set my DVR to tape random movies just to have something different to watch. Sometimes the movies are great and sometimes they’re so boring that I can’t watch more than the first 15 minutes. You win some and you lose some, right?

As I watched The Letter Writer a few weeks ago I heard the story of the golden key for the very first time.

“It is a symbol of your ability to unlock any door on your path to happiness. It represents a golden key of opportunity and potential. This key has been with you all of your life, you haven’t learned to use it yet. Whatever you want to accomplish in your life, you have the key to do so. It is the same key that allows you to find happiness and fulfillment in this life, and with which you can bless others. This key is yours and yours alone. Whenever you find yourself blaming others for your circumstances, look at the key. It cannot be taken away from you. You alone decide which doors to open and which paths to take. This is the gift of your life and you alone hold the key to it.”

We each have a “golden key” and, like the story says, many of us haven’t learned to use it. We have dreams but we’re too afraid to chase them because we let fear stand in the way. We long for happiness when it’s often right in front of us and all we need to do is open our eyes and stop wishing for life to be perfect. Instead of serving others, we’re selfish with our time and keep it all to ourselves.

Life is full of choices. We can choose to be joyful or miserable! It’s definitely easier to choose misery, but in the long run you’ll be glad you chose joy!

So, what’s your choice going to be? How will you choose to use your golden key?
