In lieu of my monthly Favorite Things Post I thought I’d switch it up a bit and share two fabulous books that I’ve recently read! Who knows, I may just mix it up like this every month!
A Place Called Blessing: Where Hurting Ends and Love Begins by Dr. John Trent
My mom gave me this book because it reminded her of our little neighbor boy and how our desire is to love on him!
This book drew me in from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down. Follow along the journey of Josh who loses both of his parents at the age of five. He’s placed into the foster care system and moves from home to home. When he turns 18 he doesn’t have much choice but to head out on his own to try to make a life for himself. In search of a job and with just a few dollars in his pocket, Josh meets Mike and Anna who begin to love on him and show him what a true family looks like.
A Place Called Blessing is a true story full of twist and turns. Your heart will melt and you’ll be reminded that you can make a difference in the lives of others!
YOU: Having a Baby: The Owner’s Manual to a Happy and Healthy Pregnancy by Michael Roizen, M.D. and Mehmet Oz, M.D.
When I asked my sister which pregnancy books I should read, this was one of the books that she recommended. I found it at our library, and was initially intimidated by its size (464 pages).
This book has a plethora of information and is perfect for a first-time mom-to-be. Along with information about pregnancy hormones and the development stages of the baby, you’ll learn about nutrition, exercise and much, much more. This book is very detailed and, if you’re like me, you’ll likely have a few a-ha moments.
After showing Trent a few interesting tidbits in the book, he dove right in and enjoyed it too. So much so that he’s asked me to check it out from the library again since I had to return it before he was finished. (Oh, and, there’s also a section just for dads.)
YOU: Having a Baby answered most, if not all, of my pregnancy questions and also gave me some tools to use to apply my knowledge!
I’d love to know which fabulous books you’ve read lately!
