The Me I Want to Be by John Ortberg was a game changer for me, and is a must read.I started reading The Me I Want To Be: Becoming God’s Best Version Of You by John Ortberg at the beginning of the year. This book took me a while to read – not because it was boring or I was disinterested but because I had to “chew” on all of the great info in this book.

The first chapter could have been a stand alone book on its own. At that point, I knew this book would be a game changer, and it has been. I kept a notebook and pen handy as I read this book because there were so many tidbits that I didn’t want to forget.

John starts the book by helping us figure out where we are spiritually. He then shows us where God wants us to be. I love this quote, “God doesn’t make anything and then decide to throw it away. He creates, and then, if there is a problem, He rescues.” What a wonderful reminder that God loves me just the way He created me to be! He’s not giving up on me and He’s not finished with me! (There are tidbits like this all throughout the book!)

He also shares how God can help us walk through problems that we face each and every day – worry, failures, difficult people, etc. This book covers it all and I enjoyed how John mixed in personal stories to help us relate to certain situations. It may sound cliche but after reading this book I do feel a step closer to being the me that God has designed me to be.

No matter where you are on your faith journey, I highly recommend that you check out The Me I Want to Be. (That’s my affiliate link.) There’s no doubt that we all have times in our life when we wonder if we’re the person God’s created us to be and I know that God can use this book to help us get there!
