A few weeks ago I shared our Arkansas road trip with you! I loved being so close to nature and seeing all of God’s beautiful creation, especially the animals. Here are a few of the animals that we saw! (There were other animals spotted on our trip but I wasn’t able to get pictures of them). And, I’ll go ahead and warn you that it’s highly likely that you’ve seen many of these animals before – I had a blast capturing their pictures!
I wish I could have gotten a picture of these adorable deer from the front, but this was as close as we could get without spooking them. Aren’t they just adorable?
Don’t ask me why, but Trent and I like to call these birds Taradactuls!
Is it just me or does this picture make you think of Mary Poppins and the bird on the windowsill in the Spoon Full of Sugar song?
Just before we left this area, I spotted this beautiful bird. This little guy never would turn around and let me take a picture of his face. I guess he’s camera shy!
And I just had to share this one with you. As I walked around taking pictures Trent patiently waited for me. Turns out that the turkeys were giving him his own show! They weren’t this excited to see me when I was by them! ;o)
Right across the street from Gaston’s White River Resort is an Ozark Nature Trail and Wildlife Refuge. These beautiful peacocks (along with the other caged animals you see in this post) live at the refuge. I could have hung out all day and watched them!
There’s really no way I could capture the beauty of this white peacock. As you can imagine, it made me think of a bride on her wedding day in her long, flowy gown! Absolutely gorgeous!
This peacock was just as magnificent. I don’t know about you, but when I see animals like this I can’t help but think of God’s creativity. The detail on his feathers is just, well, breathtaking!
The blue on their necks shone radiantly in the sun! Again, the picture doesn’t do the beauty of this bird much justice!
Chasing A Squirrel
As I was sitting on the White River doing my devotions I spotted this squirrel munching on a nut. Now, lest you think I’ve completely lost it (which is partly true), yes, I’ve seen a squirrel before. In fact, we have quite a few of them in our yard. But like I said, it was just the beauty of my surroundings that made me want to capture everything!
I decided to try to get a close-up of this little guy so my chasing began. And I must say that had he not been so intrigued with his treat, he probably would have run away sooner!
Apparently I got too close for his comfort because he ran off of the picnic table, being very careful not to drop his nut!
He started to run up the tree but must have gotten a hunger pain that he just couldn’t resist!
And that, my friends, is how you chase a squirrel. Beware – do not try this at home!
Ladies and gentlemen, the animals of Gastons! I hope you enjoyed the show!
