Texas Sheet Brownies & Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip BarsThis post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
The students in my small group came over Saturday and, of course, I had to make some goodies for them! After taking a look through the cabinets I ended up making Texas Sheet Brownies and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars
I was hankering Peanut Butter Blossoms (the cookies with Hershey Kisses on top). Unfortunately, I didn’t have any Hershey Kisses; so I decided to improvise with chocolate chips!
Simply follow the directions on the cookie package. Once the dough is mixed together add in a bag of chocolate chips! Yep, it’s that simple! I baked these in a 9 x 13 pan…for around 20-25 minutes. Judging from the thickness of these bars, I would have been fine with just one bag!
The students loved these! (Shh…don’t tell them how easy they were to make!)
Texas Sheet Brownies
One of the students had mentioned they’d like brownies and another mentioned s’mores. Well, s’mores were out of the question but I did find some marshmallows! (And, yes, they are the fruity flavored ones. I promise you won’t taste the difference.)
As I was mixing up the brownies I remembered my grandma’s Texas Sheet Cake recipe and that’s how this recipe was born! Really – why do they call it Texas Sheet Cake? Anyways…
Simply bake the brownies according to the directions. When they’re almost finished pour a bag of marshmallows on top and place back in the oven for a few more minutes.
My grandma’s recipe called for Marshmallow Fluff but I didn’t have those. So, I just spread the marshmallows around on the top of the brownie while they were still gooey!
Now, grandma made her own chocolate topping, but I was out of milk so I went with a frosting I had on-hand! Once the brownie is cool, melt the frosting in the microwave for 1 minute and spread it on top of the marshmallows!
If you have a super sweet tooth you’re going to love this Texas Sheet Brownie! But I’ll warn you, you won’t be able to eat just one! ;o)
Both of these recipes were super simple to make; plus, the students loved them! It was a win-win in my book!
I’d love to know what holiday baking you’ve done. Please leave a comment or a link to your recipe!
