“He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one
of the least of these, you did not do for me.’” ~ Matthew 25:45
I had been freelancing full time for more than a year when I ran into a woman who used to work at the same company where I had been employed. She waved to me from across the room at a local restaurant. I walked over to hear table, and we chatted for a few moments. Then she introduced me to her husband. “This is the writer I told you about…the one who always took time to talk to me and the rest of the cleaning staff.” I smiled and shook his hand. As I walked back to my table, my heart was smiling, too. I miss the mark much of the time, but for once I had hit it. My taking the time to chat with her on the nights I worked late had really meant something to her. And I knew it had meant something to God as well.
See, we should never let a person’s title or position determine how we treat that person. Whether you run into the janitor or the vice president, you should be equally friendly. Love doesn’t see titles – only people.
