Take A Minute Tuesday…

Today as we take a break from our normal posts, I encourage you to be still for just a few minutes and take some time to meet with God.  God is all around us; we just have to take the time to experience Him.  Psalm 46:10 encourages us to, “Be still and know that I am God.”

I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
~ Psalm 41:11 ~

There are times when no matter what we do, we’ll never please someone.  Some people won’t return our friendship.  Some bosses won’t look on us kindly.  Some people will never believe that we measure up.  That’s why our confidence needs to be based on what God says about us.  For everyone else, we can only do what God’s Word instructs us to do.

My friend Rachel once called me in tears.  After a long, sisterlike friendship with Christine, Rachel had finally realized that their friendship was over.  For several months, she had tried to save the friendship through encouragement, gifts, and just “being there.”  Unfortunately, Christine wouldn’t accept it.  After the falling out, Rachel realized that she’d placed Christine’s opinion of her above God’s.  It had become a twisted relationship that thankfully ended with Rachel rediscovering the importance of pleasing God instead of man.

If someone – a boss, friend, husband or boyfriend – has you questioning your value, turn to God.  If necessary, talk to an objective third party who is a Christian.  Remember that you belong to God’s family and your value depends on Him.  For everyone else, you can only do what god calls you to do.
