Take A Minute Tuesday…

Today as we take a break from our normal posts, I encourage you to be still for just a few minutes and take some time to meet with God.  God is all around us; we just have to take the time to experience Him.  Psalm 46:10 encourages us to, “Be still and know that I am God.”

The other day as I was reading Acts in my quiet time, a verse really spoke to me and I knew I had to share it with you.  King Herod had arrested Peter with plans to persecute him.  Peter was put in jail and was awaiting trial.  I’m going to pick up when Peter is sleeping in Acts 12:7, “Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell.  He struck Peter on the side and woke him up, ‘Quick, get up!’ he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.”

I was blown away when I read this verse.  Here is Peter in jail sleeping like a baby.  An angel appears, a light shines in the cell and he still doesn’t wake up.  The angel finally strikes him on the side to get him to wake up.  When I’m facing trials and storms of this life do I have that kind of peace to be able to sleep soundly?  To be quite honest, no, I don’t.  I usually toss and turn watching the clock until it’s time to get up.

Oh how I want to be like Peter and be at peace with the circumstances that I’m going through.

Me too, Tshanina. Me too. Thanks for sharing that. I never realized that even the light didn't arouse Peter from his sleep. Something to think about today……
