Take A Minute TuesdayThis post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
Today as we take a break from our normal posts, I encourage you to be still for just a few minutes and take some time to meet with God. God is all around us; we just have to take the time to experience Him. Psalm 46:10 encourages us to, “Be still and know that I am God.”
My church is very blessed with a gifted pastor who is an excellent teacher of God’s Word. This past Sunday Brady asked a question that struck a chord with me and the Holy Spirit really convicted me that it’s something I need to work on. He asked us if we try to learn God’s Word as much as new technology. Ouch.
He’s right because many times I could be digging into God’s Word but I’ll sit and read blogs, search for deals, watch tv, or countless other things. How much do I really yearn to know about God and His Word?
Learning God’s Word is just like anything else, I have to be intentional about taking the time to devote to reading and studying. Today’s society has a “fast food” mentality; if I have a question and need to find the answer I can simply Google (or Swagbucks) and find the answer in a moment. Studying the Bible isn’t as easy because sometimes I have to dig a bit to find an answer (although I can Google that too). However, as I keep digging I realize that it’s totally worth it.
If you’re like me and sometimes struggle with diving into God’s Word, don’t give up. God promises that His Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:1). You never know when you’ll use those scriptures that you’ve stored away. I love it when they pop into my head at just the right time!
