Sunny Days Are Important To Save For Too!This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
I’m a firm believer that every family should save for a rainy day by having an emergency fund! There’s something to be said about the peace of mind that comes with knowing that we’ll be taken care of should something unexpected happen in the future.
We sure are glad that we saved for a rainy day! A few years ago our emergency fund was almost complete when an unexpected emergency happened. It was so painful to nearly drain our emergency fund but we were so glad we saved for that rainy day. The outcome of that situation would have looked a lot different had we not saved for it.
If you’re not currently saving for a rainy day, I highly encourage you to start today! Whether it be $5 or $500, tuck that money away in a savings account where you know you won’t touch it!
Why Not Save For A Sunny Day Too?
Let’s flip the equation around and put a positive spin on saving shall we?
We all have goals and dreams! (If you don’t, you need to stop reading this post and grab a pen and paper and write down 2-3 goals or dreams. It’s ok, you can finish reading this when you’re done dreaming!) I don’t know about you but some of the goals I have seem so far off and sometimes I wonder if we’ll ever reach them.
One of my dreams is to have hardwood floors in our house. It’s a dream that I’ve had since I moved in when we were married nearly nine years ago.
I get excited when I think about the day when my floors are installed and I can step onto them for the very first time!
It would be so much easier to save if we stopped dreading the money part of the equation (yes, I know it sounds like an oxymoron) and start dreaming about the moments that we want to live for? (For me it’s living for the feeling of my new hardwoods beneath my feet!)
What does your sunny day look like?
Sunny days look different for everyone!
Some people would love to save to take a cruise to Hawaii and live for the day when they can post a beautiful sunset selfie to social media! Others would love to save for a new car and live for the day when they breath in that new car smell. And then there’s those who would love to save for a family vacation and live for the day when they have family portraits on the beautiful beaches of Destin.
It’s important to save for both rainy and sunny days. But I think we’d all agree that the sunny days are more exciting to think about.
Do you think it’s easier to save for a rainy or sunny day? What does living for a sunny day look like for you?
