Today I’m sharing the prenatal vitamins and supplements that I’ve been taking during my pregnancy. I wish I could take credit for finding these treasures, but my mom/sister are the ones that I have to thank!

One of the first things the OB told me when I found out I was pregnant was to start taking a prenatal vitamin. I didn’t know any better so I headed to the store and picked up the generic brand of prenatal vitamins, which was also the cheapest.
I had been taking these vitamins for well over a month when I told my sister that I was having stomach pain. (I just figured it was part of being pregnant.) Being the wonderful support system that she is, she started trying to figure out what the problem was. She asked me about my prenatals and encouraged me to try Vita Natal because they had worked so well for her during her pregnancy.
Whatdya know…after the generic prenatals worked their way out of my system, I had less pain! This just goes to prove that cheaper isn’t always better, especially when it comes to your health!
It’s no secret that I was extremely depressed upon learning that I was pregnant. So, once again, my mom/sister looked for a solution. Enter DHA! (The welcome packet I received from my OB and You: Having A Baby also recommended taking DHA during pregnancy.
DHA is made of purified fish oil (which doesn’t sound too great) but it supports brain function, improves memory, and helps fight depression. Not only is DHA good for my brain, but it’s also good for baby’s brain too!
Another supplement that was recommended to help fight my depression was Vitamin D/K2.
There are additional benefits of Vitamin D/K2: builds strong bones, supports the immune system, and more!
A diet full of vegetables and fruits is highly recommended, especially during pregnancy. Now, Trent and I are big fans of fruits and veggies, but I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t eat my daily allowance.
I’ve heard of Juice Plus for years, but decided that it was time to invest in the health of not only me but my unborn child. By taking two of the Orchard Blend and Garden Blend capsules each day (which are made of fruit/vegetable juice powder and pulp), I’m getting 17 different fruits, vegetables and grains…17!
Now, this may be too much information for some, but I definitely wanted to include it. One of the problems that many women have during pregnancy is backed up bowels. (Raising my hand!) Liquid Chlorophyll helps the body destroy and remove germs, promotes good digestive function, and also has many other functions.
Tip: I highly recommend that you take your Liquid Chlorophyll with 1/4 – 1/2 cup of dark grape juice. Trust me, it masks the potent taste of the Chlorophyll!
Well, there you have it. These are the vitamins/supplements that I’ve been taking and have had great success with during my pregnancy.
What pregnancy vitamins/supplements do you recommend?
