On Friday I shared that it was my birthday. I had a great day. It was a quiet day, which is right up my alley!

gigis birthday surprise cupcake

I already shared with those of you that follow along via social media, but Trent brought me this wonderful Gigi’s Cupcake. It was complete with a birthday candle. And even though it got a bit discombobulated in the heat, it tasted scrumptious! If you can’t guess, the icing is my favorite part of Gigi’s Cupcakes! It goes on and on and on….

My day was filled with phone calls, messages and cards from family and friends. When Cole called he sang Happy Birthday to me! It was adorable! And one of my other calls was my 14 (soon to be 15) year old nephew! I about fell out because, as you know, it’s not typical for a teenage boy to call his aunt! And, even though I found out that his mother “encouraged” him to call, it meant a lot that he followed through!

downton abbey cd

Along with my can of ravioli, my mom also gave me this Downton Abbey CD! It’s no secret that I’m a huge Downton Abbey fan, and I have so enjoyed listening to this music from the series. This is one of those CD’s you can have playing in the background all day!

story of the monarch butterfly

One of the other gifts I received was this Story of the Monarch Butterfly from Jayden! Even though it was a project for school, this seven page story so touched my heart! I mean, the fact that he even remembered that it was my birthday is a huge deal, let alone him bringing me a gift! Along with the story, he gave me most ginormous hug!

chicken picatta at puleos grille

Now, I may be a thrifty girl, but one thing I enjoy is eating out! Trent told me to pick a restaurant for my birthday dinner! Uhm, yes, I was absolutely all over that!

I had received quite a few birthday freebies from signing up for the newsletters from my favorite restaurants. (If you’re not already doing this, you should! Just make sure the emails are sent to a deals email!) Well, this goodie was too good to pass up and I was super excited that it was at a fabulous restaurant, Puleo’s Grille!

When diners visit Puleo’s Grille on their birthday (with valid i.d.), they receive a free entree (or $12 off your entree) plus a free dessert (Chocolate Lasagna)! That was a deal that was just too good to pass up. Our meal was fabulous and our dining budget was happy when we left!

I’m so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life, and so thankful for a wonderful day!

Thrifty T
