Oh how it pains me to share a negative income number with this month’s report. But, you know I like to keep it real here so I have no other choice but to share!

Why The Negative Income Numbers?
When I originally started blogging I started over on Blogger. What can I say, I’m a thrifty girl, and it was FREE! While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with blogger, about two years into my journey I decided to make Thrifty T’s Treasures a self-hosted WordPress site so I would own my content.
When I decided to make the move, I was delving into the world of web design so I thought I’d transfer my site myself. I found a DIY book and started the process. Long story short, the transfer didn’t quite go as planned, and I learned that site transfers weren’t in my web design future. It was a tedious process that stressed me out!
So, for the past two years since I’ve had my self-hosted site, I’ve known that I would eventually need to “fix” the problem (my photos were at Blogger and they were redirecting to my self-hosted site. If Blogger decided to shut my site down, my photos would be lost forever!)
While I generally do my own back-end blog work, I knew this task was too big to wrap my brain around. There are some back-end items that I’m too scared to play around with because messing them up can bring your site crashing down. (Trust me, I’ve been there.)
Last month I decided to bite the bullet and come up off of some cash! Chris at Klong Designs did the work for me. He also added a redirect in my email newsletter for my Amazon ads. (Did you know it’s against Amazon’s terms of service to have links in your newsletter?) Chris was fabulous to work with and I appreciated that he took the time to answer all of my questions. (He did not pay me to say this!)
What I learned in this process. Had I paid the money up front to have someone transfer my site for me, I would have saved money in the longrun. But, I’m excited that I’ve found a web designer that I can rely on for the projects I’m not confident in tackling!
How Did My Ad Waterfalls Perform?
In July’s traffic and income report I told you that I started experimenting with ad waterfalls. I’m happy to report that they were a huge success!
Let’s dig a bit deeper and take a look at the numbers for my 160X600 sidebar ad:
During the month of June, I made $5.03 from this ad through Sovrn. The first week of July I added PriceGrabber as the first tier in this waterfall.

$1.92 through Sovrn (as my second waterfall ad)
I had a third waterfall setup through Media.net but I didn’t earn anything from it. (My pageviews are too low, plus I haven’t had great success with them.)
So, my ad waterfall experiment paid off! Yes, I know that it was due in large part to the PriceGrabber ads which performed well on my site. But I also made additional income (be it small) from playing around with ad waterfalls! I’m excited to see how they do as my site continues to grow!
This month I added them as the first tier on one of my other ads. Maybe next month I’ll get brave enough to make them the first tier on my highest revenue generating ad!
