January Traffic and Income Report

It’s no secret that there are people making money from their blog. (When I was at a blogging conference a couple years ago, word on the street was that a few bloggers were making 5 figures a month from their blogs.) It was quite mind blowing to me then…and still is today! After hearing this, I quickly signed up for Google Adsense and plopped a few ads in my sidebar. And although they haven’t brought in tons of money, I’m thankful that they pay my yearly hosting fees for Thrifty T’s Treasures.

Last Fall I read Ruth Soukup’s eBook How To Blog For Profit (Without Selling Your Soul)! In her book, Ruth shares how she makes an income from her lifestyle blog. I became so excited reading this book and couldn’t put it down. I’ve since been motivated to see if I, too, can make an income from Thrifty T’s Treasures. It’s worth a shot, right?

So, I thought it’d be fun to share this journey with you. Through 2014, each month I’ll report my income and traffic with you and share the good, bad and ugly! (I’m crossing my fingers that it’ll be mostly good!)

Income

Amazon Affiliate Network – $51.53*

Google Adsense – $36.22

Escalate Network – $10.50*

Media.net – $9.77

*These totals include the numbers for Murfreesboro’s Treasures. I didn’t separate them until February.

Total Income – $108.02

Expenses

Feedblitz – $1.34

Post Expenses – $48 (I can’t wait for you to see this project!)

Total Expenses – $49.34

NET INCOME – $58.68

Traffic Overview

Google Analytics January Traffic Overview

Top 10 Traffic Sources

Top 10 Traffic Sources - January

Compared to “bigger” bloggers, 36,558 pageviews is a small number. But I’m quite proud of my numbers, especially considering where my they were less than six months ago. I’ve worked quite hard to get them where they are today!

Google Analytics September - December

As you can see, October is when I really started to focus on growing my numbers. 6,064 pageviews in September compared to 36,558 in January…I’ll take it!

Pinterest Takes The Cake

As you can see from my top referrers, Pinterest is my largest source of traffic. I’ve been working really hard to share my content more and spread the word about Thrifty T’s Treasures!

Thank You!

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been blogging here for 4 years. I have such a blast writing and sharing here. None of these numbers would be possible without YOU…so thank you!

That’s pretty cool- thanks for sharing. I’ve always wondered about ad revenue for blogs.

Thanks for being so transparent and sharing this! I’m just starting to monetize my blog so it’s interesting to see how others are accomplishing the task.
