Don’t Be Afraid To Change Up Your BudgetThis post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
Over the weekend Trent and I took a look at our budget and decided to make changes in a few line items. If you remember, earlier in the year we ran into a snag and had to use most of emergency fund. (Boy, I’m thankful we had that!) Also, my new web design business hasn’t taken off as well as I’d hoped, but it’s been so neat to see how God has provided other opportunities for me! So, our priorities have changed a bit.
At the beginning of the year we were on track to fully fund our six month emergency fund. Even though we won’t achieve that goal this year we need to get “gazelle intense” again about replenishing those funds and getting it back up to where it needs to be. (Hopefully we won’t have any other large snafus again. Fingers crossed!)
So, we went though our budget line item by line item and began to cut a bit of “fat” in certain areas. No worries, we are blessed (as is most everyone that lives in the U.S., but that’s another post) and thankful for how God generously provides for every need, and many times our wants!
No matter what stage of life you’re in or how your finances look you should always keep a close eye on your budget and be able to make changes. Yes, change can be difficult for many but don’t be afraid of it. There will be times when you’ll need to cut the “fat” and times when you’ll be able to change or even add new line items!
