Date Night & The Movie Home RunThis post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
To be quite honest, I can’t remember the last time Trent and I went on a date. You know, the kind where you actually make plans ahead of time and the girl gets really excited about going out with her man!
So, a few weeks ago when Trent invited me to go see the movie Home Run I was all in! (Our church had rented out the entire theater and tickets were pretty cheap.) I was excited to go see this movie, not only because the previews looked good, but because the last movie that Trent and I saw together was…wait for it…March of the Penguins. (Don’t ask!!!)
On Saturday Trent came home from work with flowers in hand and we were off to grab dinner before our movie! We went to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants – Oscar’s Taco Shop! Side bar – if you live near one and haven’t tried them you’re definitely missing out!
After dinner we headed off to see Home Run. This movie is from Provident Films, the makers of Fireproof, Facing the Giants and many more!
Home Run is a movie about a baseball all-star named Cory Brand. He knows how to keep it together on the field but off the field his life is spiraling out of control as he’s haunted with demons from his past.
After a team suspension and DUI, Cory’s agent (Vivica Fox) sends him back to his hometown where he’s forced to coach the town’s youth baseball team and attend 8 weeks in a recovery program.
As he begins to coach, his players remind him of the joy of the game! It becomes very apparent that he needs to find freedom from his past…and even desires to win back the love of his life.
Head over here to find a theater in your area!
Overall this was a very good movie that Trent and I both enjoyed! If Home Run is playing in your area, I highly encourage you to take the whole family to see it!
As I watched Cory go through his eight week recovery program I was reminded of the counseling that I went through and the freedom that came on the other side. Home Run is very thought provoking and reminds us that freedom is possible!
You know I’ll always shoot you straight here at Thrifty T’s Treasures. I do have one negative and it might not be a big deal to you. A few of the outfits that the female characters wore were a little low for my liking – it was just a bit too much skin for me.
This is not a sponsored post. I simply wanted to share this movie with you.
