Budgeting: It’s Not Rocket Science (Part 4)…This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
Money is the cause of many fights in marriages. I can’t stress to you how important it is for you and your spouse to be on the same page with your new budget. If you created the budget on your own I recommend that you sit down with your spouse and take a look at it together. Trust me, they may have their own idea on what money should go where.
I know that a lot of guys feel that it is their responsibility to handle the budget. I have no problem with that at all. However, I believe that as long as you’re both on the same page, it doesn’t really matter which of you goes through the weekly process of doing the budget. I do our budget because I enjoy it and Trent doesn’t.
Ladies, I can’t stress this enough – if you are the one doing the budget each week please make sure to involve your husband. God gave the husband the responsibility of being the leader of the house and he needs to know what’s going on. There have been a few times when we’ve had an extra bill pop up and I would get very stressed because I didn’t know which category to take the money from. I would take the responsibility onto my own shoulders. Take it from me, ask your husband to help you figure out what to do; it will save you tons of stress.
So, which one of you will be doing the budget each week?
