Bacon Wrapped Filets on a BudgetThis post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve been to the grocery store and seen the price of meat. I must admit that at times it’s difficult to add meats to my cart simply because they’re so expensive. I don’t know about you, but my budget doesn’t have a lot of wiggle room for expensive meat.
Today I’m excited to pass along this tip that a friend shared with me on how you can eat bacon wrapped filets while on a budget!
Hopefully you have an Aldi nearby because that’s where I bought these bacon wrapped filets. Yes, you heard me right, Aldi!
I know! I was a sceptic too, but you have to try them. At $1.89 per filet, the price just can’t be beat. You’ll find these little puppies right alongside the other fresh meat in your local Aldi.
Use toothpicks to hold the bacon in place while it’s cooking. (This also helps lock in additional yummy flavors!) The only seasoning I added to my meat was salt and pepper to both sides before I placed it in the pan.
Place a bit of oil in the pan and cook on medium heat for 8-10 minutes per side (depending on how pink you want your meat). When I flipped the meat I placed the lid on the pan. (That may not have done anything but it sounded like something they’d do on a cooking show.)
This is our second time having these filets and they are a nice treat. Trent is definitely a meat guy and he was super excited to hear how reasonably priced these filets are! In fact, he didn’t believe me when I told him the price – I had to get out the receipt to show him!
Just a side note: If your man likes large portions you might need to buy him two pieces. Also, if your palate is used to expensive meats you may not enjoy these filets as much as we did! Until now, filets aren’t something we buy, simply because of the price.
Where do you find great deals on meat?
