grilled wings

A Rainy Labor Day…

Today has been a rainy day and Trent and I have been chilaxing here at the house.  As I was mentally preparing for the weekend, I decided that I was going to attempt to make some wings.  Believe it or not, I’ve never made wings before. I’ve been a bit intimidated because Trent loves wings and there’s a restaurant here in Murfreesboro that has some killer wings (Slick Pig!!).  As I was contemplating whether or not to give it a try a quote I read on came to mind, “Don’t be afraid to fail.  Be afraid not to try.” So, I decided to go for it.

This morning when I saw that it was raining I had almost decided that I wasn’t going to cook our wings.  As lunch was approaching Trent said how much he would love to have some ribs.  I knew then that I had to get off my duff and make those wings.

So, out into the rain I went.  After all, how hard can it be to grill wings, right?  (I was secretly thinking what a great wife I am cooking lunch in the rain.)  How many women (or men) would do this?

Let me just say that this project was so easy.  I put the frozen wings on the grill and slathered them with barbecue sauce.  After 30 minutes they were ready to go; I only had to flip them once.

The best part of it all was when Trent said that the wings were good.  Those were words to this cook’s heart that also made it worthwhile to trudge into the rain.  No, we didn’t eat the whole plate of wings.  However, we did put a good dent in them.  I’m so glad I branched out and tried something new.  I’ll definitely make these again.

What are you putting off because you’re afraid you’ll fail?  Branch out and give it a try!
