3 Ways To Know If You’re BlessedThis post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for more details.
For many of us, it’s easy to look around and know just how blessed we are. We may not drive the newest cars, have the biggest houses, or even have a gazillion dollars in the bank, but our blessings are evident.
For others of us, we see the darker side of things. Bills are mounting up, collectors are calling and we feel like giving up. There’s no way that we live a blessed life!
No matter your circumstance, you are blessed. Don’t believe me? Here are three very simple ways to know that you are blessed.
1. You have eaten today and have food in your pantry.
In 2001, I took a mission trip to Argentina that forever changed my life. On one particular day the ladies of the community gathered together to cook a meal – it was something they did once a week to feed the families in the area. While we had been working in the heat to build a church for them, they were slaving away in a make-shift kitchen cooking a hot meal.
As we washed up for lunch, I noticed that the children were drinking out of the same tub that we had just washed our hands in. (Oh how that broke my heart!)
The ladies loaded our plates with a pasta dish (I didn’t really ask what it was because I was already leery enough). After a few bites, I bit into a bone. I knew I couldn’t finish, but I didn’t want this meal to go to waste. I offered it to one of the children that were hanging around and they gladly accepted it. I later learned that these families would take this food home and eat on it during the week. This one meal made a huge impact.
2. You have shelter (that could mean you live with someone, have an apartment, or your own house).
On this same trip to Argentina, we walked around the village. I had heard of people living in shacks, but this was my first experience to see it with my own eyes.
The thing that blew me away was that these people were happy as could be living this way. They didn’t have big fancy houses like we do in the states, but they did the best with what they were given. The ladies took pride in keeping their dirt floors swept and tiny houses clean.
3. You have a vehicle.
I was blown away as I watched a family of four (with a small baby) load onto a tiny motorcycle. I don’t know how they did it, but they made it work! Many people in Argentina walked to their destination, so this motorcycle was a luxury!
You may consider your car a jalopy (and that’s ok if it is). No matter what type of vehicle you have, I would guarantee that someone who doesn’t have a vehicle would be happy with it.
Oh how much we take for-granted! Instead of thinking of all the stuff that we don’t have, let’s be thankful for what we do have!
Whether you have one or all of these things, I pray that you’ll realize just how blessed you really are!
Now it’s your turn to share. What’s one way that you realize just how blessed you are?
