I loved this Italian Breadsticks in the Bread Machine recipe! Not only were these breadsticks tasty but they were super easy because the bread machine does all the work.

Italian Breadsticks

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 Tablespoons butter (I used oil because my nephew is allergic to butter)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast

Place the ingredients in your bread machine in the order listed above and run on the dough cycle.

Divide into balls and form into ropes.  Cover and let rise for 20 minutes or until doubled.  (I made these the night before we were going to eat them.  After they rose I covered them and put them in the refrigerator.)

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

When they come out of the oven, brush them with melted butter and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese!

I took these to a family gathering and my brother-in-law gave me a hard time because I made them in all different sizes.  I agree that they do look funny, but I didn’t figure that a kid would want the same size as an adult. Thankfully their taste made up for their looks!

These were FANTASTIC! I made 2 batches thinking that I would freeze some for next time but my family (and neighbors!) ate them all. We will be making them again soon. Thank you!!

Did you use bread flour or all purpose flour? Thanks!

      I used all purpose, Sharon.

My dough cycle on my bread machine allows quite a bit of time for rising. Do you just let it mix in the machine or do you let it rise twice?

My dough cycle lets it rise too and I let it run the entire cycle.

      Thanks for stopping by, Sydney!
